"Plumb Bond" system  for laying brick/block:
<   The two brick walls to the left are examples of the "craftsmanship" possible when one uses this system.

Immediate benefits to masonry contractor:
(To achieve the following, an FBS or FBX brick must be used.   CMU offer no problem.)

  1.  *No need to re-tighten the mason's line.
  2.   No more wide bed joints out from the corner.
  3.   No more "bellies" on the face of the wall.
  4.  *No need to remove the line until the wall is topped out.
  5.  *No need to sight head joints.
  6.  *No need to put plumb marks on the backup wall.   (This is another area on the wall where
brick may be shifted and the mortar bond broken.)
  7. *No need to shift laid brick/block to maintain the bond.  (Eliminates potential wall leaks.)
  8.  *"Butter" the closure brick and opening properly, lay closure brick, and no more leaking
         walls.
  9.   Masons may lay "forward" or "backward" on the line.
10.   Regardless of the brick/block pattern, "each piece" can be laid "at the same rate of
         production".
11.   Whatever your individual mason's rate of production, for whatever day, on a
straight wall (brick or block) he should realize an easy 20 percent increase.
12.   However high, and at any point around the building, the bond goes straight up.
13.   Any mason who can lay a decent brick/block to the line can immediately experience all of
         the above.

  *    Time saved from conventional methods goes directly into "production".

Benefits to the Architect:

     1. Whatever the masonry pattern, and at any point around the building, the bond remains
Plumb.   Every mason's work will be the same.
     2. There will be no need to shift laid brick/block to maintain the bond.   Shifting laid
brick/block breaks the mortar bond and leaks are likely to occur.
